Joseph (of Arimathea)

Joseph of Arimathea was a rich member of the council who became a follower of Jesus. After the Crucifixion, he went boldly to Pontius Pilate and asked for Jesus' body, then placed it in his own newly hewn tomb. His burial of the Lord stands as an act of reverent devotion at the moment of Christ's death.
