Zippor was the father of Balak, king of Moab, who hired the prophet Balaam to curse Israel during their wilderness journey. Though Zippor himself does not act directly, his son's scheme and Balaam's inability to curse those blessed by God form a pivotal episode in Israel's approach to the promised land.
