Pekah was a captain in the army of Pekahiah, king of Israel, whom he assassinated to seize the throne. He reigned for twenty years and formed an alliance with Rezin of Syria against Judah. During his reign, the prophet Isaiah delivered warnings to King Ahaz, and Pekah's own reign ended in defeat and the capture of Israel's cities.
